The Community Garden
at Orchard Park is an all-volunteer effort to maintain a community
garden in our neighborhood. The Morehead Hill Neighborhood Association
has established the garden in partnership with the
& Recreation Department and NEEM, with sponsorship
support from BlueCross Blue Shield
of North Carolina, among others.

The Morehead Hill Community Garden at Orchard Park is now fully subscribed for the 2014-2015 season. Applications
for the wating list are now being accepted. Improvements in the works for this year include
upgrading the irrigation system and providing box covers to protect the plots
from pests. We will also host a free children's garden - contact Alexa McKerrow
at alexa_McKerrow@ncsu.edu for more information.

Calling all young gardeners!
Morehead Hill Community Garden Board has generously donated one of the
existing raised beds to be designated as a children's garden. Getting
kids involved in gardening promotes exercise, fellowship,
responsibility and an appreciation for how food gets onto one's plate.
If you know of any kids aged 4-16 who would like to participate, please contact Alexa McKerrow.
is no cost to participate, and we would likely meet as a group one or
two times a month to tend the plot, collaborate on planting, maybe
journal on the experience, and other ideas as they evolve.
Members will be working at the garden on some Saturdays from 10-12. Feel free to stop by and meet us, sign up for your own garden plot, or lend a hand!
